November 2nd - 23-16

Not a pleasant day at work. Came in to find out that the identities I'd created for the online store (my year-long project) had all mysteriously disappeared from the web. Everything was gone. If someone cam to the site expecting to see one identity, they saw the default...not good at all. The client was pissed but patient with me, and I spent the whole day working with the guy who did the custom programming to see how we could most easily get them restored. However, there was no easy way to get them restored. My workaround didn't work, either, so the sites were either down or wrong all day. When I went to bed at 11:00, they were still not working properly.

Only solace I can take in this is that it's not at all my fault. I did nothing wrong, but wasn't able to quickly hammer out a solution, which frustrates the hell out of me. Hopefully, better luck tomorrow, or I'll have one really pissed off client to placate.

12 yard pass for an easy first down.

Life's ball. 1st and 10 on their own 49.

  1. I am probably going to lose, I now recognize.

What's interesting about that is, absent the game, I think I've had a good year. Not a wildly good year - as there are substantial tradeoffs - but tradeoffs worth making.

But within this conceit - there have been big plays against me. It's a game where I've dominated, say time of possession, but have just gotten hit at precisely the wrong time.

So, this weekend was typical - which means good - sports good, my time with my friend good, all things good. My normal is good.

That's another easy first down pass right over the middle, down to Life's 28 -

And then I got a ticket for failure to stop at a stopsign. 166 bucks. And now my property tax bill is due, my house has lost half its value in two years, but my taxes continue to rise.

And that's what a fumble looks like. Life takes over at its own 28 as we're what, like 8 minutes left in the game? And I'm down 10-0. At this point, my normal good days, not great days - but every day just a little better than not, aren't going to be enough to get those two scores.

    I'm goin' down.
