Today, I did something I never thought I'd do. I bought one of those guitar games for the Wii. Tieraney instigated it, asking why we don't have one because she heard they're a lot of fun. My theory has always been that I, you know, play bass, and don't need to do it on a video game.
But Rock Band 2 was on sale for $99, so what the hell. I bought it. Hooked it up. Played it with Tieraney and the kids. And yeah, it is fun. I wouldn't ever play it on my own, but it's fun to stand in your living room fake jamming with others. Tieraney and I are enjoying playing it together, even some of the songs we don't like. We've learned that, yes, we really are justified in our dislike for the wildly overrated Beastie Boys, and that Jethro Tull is a confusing band.
Anyway, after the kids were in bed, Tieraney and I played it for three hours. That may be the longest we've done anything together that doesn't involve being asleep. Good times.
