June 27th-28th - 13-13

Good weekend. Drove down to Columbus with David Temple to see Bill Stiteler at a gaming convention. Bill's movie, THACO, was screened there, so I got to watch it with him. Quite funny. Interesting place to be, too. People in costume, people hitting each other with foam swords, people playing games, people chanting out loyalties to words I couldn't understand. It was fun. Although I never played D&D or such games (aside from the computer variations), these are my people. I'm more apt to sit around table and crawl some dungeons than I am to play poker and smoke cigars. I think I enjoy the lack of pretense amongst gamers...well, provided they're not wearing costumes or speaking in accents. Then, they're stone freaks.

So, that was Saturday. Sunday was stuff. Shopped a little bit, did a little yard work, played some video games, wrote some, yelled at the kids.

Life tries for one more shot downfield, but we sack the QB.

Life's ball: 4th and 17 on its own 29.

  1. 600 bucks for a new bumper.

    Not unexpected.

Now, this speaks to the issue I raised before, about how the game impacts real life (you know, like the Heisenberg Principle, that those who are watched have their behavior changed by being watched). I've had this cracked bumper; I've been looking for a time to fix it, maybe absent the game I fix it now -- but, today is the last day of the first half, and with Life driving down the field, it would be untrue to say I was unaware of the symmetry.

At the gun, Life kicks the 26 yard FG to take a 10-0 lead into the locker room.
