June 15th - 6-13

My hockey team has a new coach. At least, it looks like we do. It hasn't been officially announced, but it's pretty much confirmed that the second coach in franchise history (as the Wild, since 2000), will be Todd Richards.

Now, I know nothing about hockey coaches. Until this season, I could've named you two: Jaques Lemaire of my team, and Wayne Gretzky of the Phoenix Coyotes. I only know Gretzky because I already knew the name. Note to parents, if you want people to remember your children and what they do, give them names people already know: Elvis, Jesus and Charo.

So, as I always do when I learn something like this, I went to the forums. Richards is being very well received by the fan base. Not a lot of NHL coaching experience, but he was very successful in the minors, and was the assistant coach of the San Jose Sharks last year as they made run to the President's Trophy. We also have a new GM that people like, and it's all looking pretty good. A full change from the mediocrity and underperformance that has pretty much been a staple for the last few years. I'm encouraged.

Bought a new crate for the dog, too, as she was starting to bend the wires in the old one, and figured out how to bypass (and eat) the bungie cords. This one's mostly plastic. Offers more "protection." We'll see how it goes.

Good Wild news leads to a first down.

My ball: 1st and 10 on Life's 24.
