Birthday yesterday. I dig me some birthday. I no longer expect/want parties or friends or family or anything like that, but I like getting gifts. Good time to catch up on all the movies/games/books I haven't been buying all year. So, I did. Plus, my mom made me the cherry pie and the goulash (which isn't actually anything like goulash, but we call it that anyway), and that's always a tasty treat.
Plus, my wife and I did the thing last night...which, despite my age, I continue to get better at exponentially. Do I need a birthday to do it with my wife? Hells no, but it's a good excuse to guarantee it.
Anyway, the better news is that the Zolof concert was Saturday night. Decent show, but because they were the opening act, their set was too short for my tastes. After they were done, Tieraney and I talked to them near their merchandise table for quite a well. Good people, those Rock and Roll Destroyers. We discussed the majesty of Flash Gordon, the inspirational value of Twisted Sister, and whether Phil Collins helped or hindered Phillip Bailey's career. Good times. I'll be interviewing them soon for the Appletellcast (too hectic at the show to interview them there), and I'm looking forward to it.
And although my hockey team lost to Calgary 2-3 on Saturday night, we beat Edmonton 3-2 on my birthday. That's a wash.
It all adds up to my biggest play from scrimmage yet; pass over the middle picks up some nice YAC.
My ball: 1st and 10 on my 49.

Social security, good. Interstate highway system, good. Libraries and parks and whatnot. Lots of good things about the US government.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of football, I'll start thinking NFL draft probably end of next week - if you keep the pick, is it best tackle on the board? Lots of ways to go there - Crabtree, a trade down to get Beanie Wells or down to get a LB to replace Peterson. Or keep the pick and take best tackle on your board (Monroe, I would think, assuming JSmith goes second).
It's a little fluid yet, still a month out.
Glad birthday was good. I'm making less money because of low enrollment; I'm below a particular threshold in this particular course. Rough health weekend for girlfriend, lots going on, it'll all work out, but it didn't this weekend. This weekend, I just had to slog it out. That's a bobbled snap by the QB, he puts his head down and manages to get back to the line of scrimmage, taking a couple of shots for his time. I'll let the last few seconds of the quarter run out, switch sides and go again, 3rd and ten at Life's 49, down 7-0.
